I met Jaye at a Rising Tide Society event this past summer, and was immediately struck by how cool she is. She's a central NJ wedding photographer who moonlights as a singing and guitar-playing musician in Nashville...really?! Talk about sharing the creative wealth with the rest of us! She has such a strong creative drive, and did I mentioned the beautiful photography? That ring shot? Just go check her out on Instagram to see what I mean. I promise you won't be disappointed.
One of the things I love about meeting other local creatives is the potential for fabulous collaborations. We will be working on some Christmas and Holiday goodies together soon, so stay tuned to both of our Instagram accounts to see what fun stuff we will come up with! Photographer meets designer...the possibilities are endless!
Want to know more about what makes Jaye, well...Jaye? Read on below for some fun facts, and feel free to oogle all of these beautiful images on your way down!
How long have you been in business for yourself?
6 years!
How did you get started?
I took photography in high school - then left it alone for a while and when I went to college I got back into it. I began photographing my friends and really enjoyed photographing people as my subjects - especially couples. From there I double majored in communications and photography and whenever I went to my photography classes my teacher would let me skip class to take photo workshops and learn the business aspect at the same time. Then I took off and found some amazing photographers that took me under their wing to guide me and interned and worked with them for a while!
What are your favorite tools of the trade?
My Canon 5D Mark III - anddd my Canon 50mm 1.2 Lens. Definitely my go-to lens! Also, I really love my Kelly Moore Bags! Great camera bag - and they don't even look like one!
What makes a good client? Do you have any favorites?
A good client is one who trusts me and my creativity. We get along and they truly enjoy my energy and passion for what I do. I love it when my couples feed off my energy when I'm creating their artwork. I get their emotions to come out and they laugh (mostly at me hehe) so when a client can just be loose and learn to laugh and let go and be comfortable thats when I know they're my client -- they trust, they let go and they're up for anything really - and we have fun while doing it. :)
If you could pick any job regardless of talent, (and not your current profession) what would you love to do?
Be a comedian or a radio personality.
Have a hidden talent?
Its not really hidden but I can sing and play guitar! I've actually written, recorded and copyrighted some music. Occasionally you can find me at some local open mics!
What gets you moving and grooving in the morning?
Coffee. Lotssss of coffee.
Favorite music to work to?
It really depends! I love music so much, lately I go back and forth between classical and just some mellow acoustic tunes.
What inspires you?
I love to make people happy and help others. I'm a helper. I'm a very passionate person when it comes to helping others and listening to them - I'm a really good listener :).
Have any guilty pleasures?
Cake for breakfast. ;-)
Favorite way to treat yourself?
Sushi. Cupcakes. Pizza. Just not all at once!
